About us

JC Electronica was created in Barcelona in year 2000. In 2002 this web domain was registered. Since the beginning, we have been offering our commercial and electronics design services, as well as developing and selling electronic kits.

Currently, we focus on the field of avionics, specially on flight control electronics for UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). These are usually small and light airplanes (also helicopters), ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 meter in span, either electric of petrol powered, that can be used for many civilian uses, like rescue/ assistance in sea emergencies, forest fire watch, geological surveying, etc.

The creator of JC Electronica

Joan C. Abelaira was born in Barcelona (Spain) in 1967. Early from his childhood, he was very interested in Science, from Biology to Astronomy. Being as young as 14 years old, got caught by electronics and radio and begun building DIY electronic kits, while other kids were playing soccer instead.

Later, he decided to study Chemical Engineering and graduated in 1995, after doing his final Thesis in the University of Birmingham (UK) as an Erasmus student. Back to the sunshine in Barcelona, time passed and no job appeared for that chemical engineer with the highest marks of his promotion. Then he decided to try electronics engineering. From year 2000, when he graduated, also started the project of an electronics design business, JC Electronica. It was not easy at all, but this was not a surprise and illusion was never lost. Currently, besides running JC Electronica he works as an R+D engineer in a company developing switching power supplies.

Joan has a number of hobbies and interests: playing chess (when a child and kid), designing and building electronic circuits, writing software for microcontrollers and firmware for FPGAs, building and flying radio control airplanes, or sailing a 420 dinghy around the Port Olimpic in Barcelona. The last hobby added to the list is to learn Japanese, a language surprisingly easier than other western languages.

Why 'thinking tirelessly'?

For many companies, a logo is just some words that create a desirable image into customer's brains. But in this case, 'thinking tirelessly' is a personal trait of Joan. A strong interest in knowing how and why things work, plus a great interest and optimism for creating and developing, makes him a person that keeps his brain running until an idea is realized.
